SANTA MONICA – The United States experienced floods across the entire country this past week. The combination of man-made and natural catastrophes affected physical and mental states.
The catastrophes caused by Hurricane Helene and the pending geo-political one taking place before our very eyes have left communities devastated and families separated.
Hurricane Helene, a Category 4, swept across Florida’s west coast last week as it moved northeast. Flooding and wind devastated homes and levelled entire communities. In Asheville, North Carolina, the National Guard is delivering water to the people in the community, reported abcNews.
Entire mountain roads have been washed away. Volunteers and community members ride horses into the hills as they search for missing people and deliver supplies.
Days after Hurricane Helene, the event has become politicized as Trump and Vance spew a flood of malarky. Former President Trump was in Georgia on Monday. He said that “swift action is needed” but the Governor of Georgia hasn’t “been able to get through” to President Biden.
Trump escalated his lies about the hurricane response at a rally in Saginew, Michigan on Thursday. According to the Rolling Stone, Trump told the crowd the Biden-Harris administration “stole the FEMA money like they stole it from a bank so they could give it to illegal immigrants that they want to have vote for them this season.”
For the record, President Biden confirmed he spoke with Governor Kemp of Georgia on Monday “for several hours.” Earlier today, Andrew Bates, Biden’s senior deputy press secretary said Trump’s statement was “FALSE,” and that “no disaster relief funding at all was used to support migrant housing and services.”
In a turn of events, Liz Cheney, a matriarch of the Republican party, hit the campaign trail with Kamala Harris. Cheney and Harris gave a rally in Ripon, Wisconsin yesterday before a crowd chanting, “Thank you Liz!”
Cheney, a staunch Republican from a well-known conservative family, acknowledged that disagreements existed between herself and Vice President Harris, but both women were able to put aside their political differences for the betterment of the country. A registered Republican for decades, Cheney said she would vote for Harris because of her sound policies, normalcy and vision of a stable future.
When asked about Cheney’s appearance with Harris, Trump referred to her as “a stupid war hawk.
The biggest story was the Vance and Walz Vice Presidential Debate that took place on Tuesday. Before the day arrived, the traditional media reported that Walz was nervous about addressing the country via live television. There was also general agreement that J.D. Vance was the stronger orator and debater.
Each man was courteous toward the other. There weren’t any overt attacks or any of the outward aggression that we have become accustomed to during the Trump years. However, CBS News, the organizer of the event decided they weren’t going to fact check Vance and Walz in real time. Allowing for the each candidate to engage in embellishment, lies, and untruths.
We are hearing and it’s polling that Vance’s falsehoods and denial of history will have the greater negative impact on the United States and the world.
Walz should have fully admitted to not being in Tiananmen Square during the unrest in China April – June 5, 1989. While he may have been in Hong Kong, he seems to have embellished about his visit to Beijing during that time of turmoil.
When J.D. Vance was asked if his running mate, Trump, lost the 2020 Election, he sidestepped the question and answered, “Tim, I’m focused on the future,”. To misdirect and mislead the American people, Vance quickly countered and accused Kamala Harris of censoring the America public on Facebook during the Covid Pandemic.
