Senators and The People gather in Washington, D.C. protesting Elon Musk

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senators gathered in D.C. to speak about and protest the possible and perceived tyranny president Trump and Elon Musk are perpetrating against the American people. One senator said, “we are gathered here today to stop King Trump and Elon Musk from trampling our Constitution and taking over our country.”

Weeks before the most recent election, candidate Trump tasked Elon Musk with the job of streamlining the government and eliminating financial waste throughout the U.S. government. Trump and Musk created DOGE, the Department of Government Efficiency.

Americans are always looking for ways to improve. Most Americans support the idea of saving money throughout the government. It is a good thing. Just like stopping the flow of illegal fentanyl across the Southern Border. But people are beginning to question if Trump really wants to help improve the lives of his fellow Americans, or, if he just wants to create a wealthy elite that rules America.

We are essentially talking about change. Change is scary. But sometimes changes is needed. We can look at ways to improve DEI and give all people equal access to opportunities. We can create a safer border. We can recreate a better economy in which all people are engaged to the extent that they want to be.

What most people are upset about is the way Trump and Musk are going about exacting these changes. Rather than following the law of the land, Trump and Musk are sidestepping the Constitution and the laws. Rather than secure the proper votes and support by the proper Court, Trump and Musk are writing executive orders and trying to enact then without following the process of law.

Changing a country is not like promoting change in a business. It is different. When change in a country happens, The People are impacted. Their lives are affected through the potential loss of healthcare, loss of wages, loss of education, loss of opportunities, and loss of individual and personal rights.

The process to enact change is a democratic one rather than a forced acceptance.

Since president Trump assumed the Office, he has signed approximately 45 executive orders. The people seem to be outraged because Trump ended DEI programs, recognizes only two genders, and plans to dismantle the Department of Education.

But really, The People are enraged that Trump allowed Musk access to their financial information. Recently, Trump allowed Elon Musk access to the Treasury Department’s payment system. This has alarmed The People because now Musk, a private citizen, can see how much people paid in taxes, how much they were refunded, how much money they receive in Medicare and Social Security. He can potentially stop any government payment at his whim.

The conflict of interests are obvious. Musk is the richest person on earth. Much of his wealth has been financed by U.S. taxpayer money and paid to his various companies through government contracts. Musk owns a huge social media platform where he can access any user’s information at anytime. Musk deals with China on a regular basis. Now that Musk has access to your family’s financial information, what can he do?

One person at the rally said that since Musk now has access to almost everyone’s banking information, he can withdrawal money from their account anytime. Whether Musk will do that or not remains to be seen. But, the enormous power Musk – a private citizen – wields is terrifying.
