In the mountains that surround Cape Town, dry conditions and high winds caused wildfires to flare in the coastal village of Pringle Bay. While popular with may vacationers, some Pringle Bay residents recalled the 2021 fire at Table Top Mountain that threatened to burn the city before it was brought under control.
In addition, 95% of an adjacent nature reserve was burned, locally authorities said.
