Southport, UK and SANTA MONICA – The families had gathered at a Taylor Swift themed yoga and dance class for young children in Southport, a city located north of Liverpool. The children were probably actively practicing the beginning yoga pose, Down Dog, as their proud parents watched. The gathering was supposed to be a safe place where children could make friendship bracelets, dance, sing, and practice yoga.
But around 11:47 AM on Monday, what was supposed to be a peacefully positive experience for children under 11 years-of-age, the gathering turned into what one local business owner described as a “horror scene from a movie” or “something like from America not sunny Southport.”
A young man entered the premises and started to attack the young children with a knife. Parents rushed the young man and tried to save the children. Unfortunately three children succumbed to their wounds and eight other children and adults were hurt in the attack.
Police arrested a 17 year-old male suspect for committing the crimes. Police believe the teenager acted alone and that the murderous incident is not connected to terrorism.
Taylor Swift and King Charles expressed their sympathy for the families. “These were just little kids at a dance class. I am at a complete loss for how to ever convey my sympathies for these families,” Swift posted on Instagram.
