SANTA MONICA & WASHINGTON – A nationwide protest is planned today at 12:00 pm EDT in response to president Trump’s recent executive orders, fear that Trump is trying to remake the United States as an oligarchy, and implementation of Project 2025.
Some American citizens view Project 2025 as the plan to undermine the United States of America, repeal The Constitution, and allow for a tyrannical president to hijack the culture and economy of the United States.
According to the National Urban League, Project 2025 is the new Southern Manifesto. That point can be argued as there are many so-called architects of Project 2025 who reside in the West Coast. Santa Monica’s very own Stephen Miller was an influencer in which the architects relied heavily upon. But, the ideas contained in Project 2025 are arguably throwbacks to a less enlightened era in the United States and the world at-large.
The National Urban League called Project 2025 “radical, repressive, and regressive.” The League further reviewed Project 2025 and summarized it in the following points:
- Dismantling the foundations of immigration policy, tearing families apart, turning away desperate refugees, and stripping away protections for Dreamers.
- Undermining climate change mitigation, environmental justice, and the transition to clean energy
- Eliminating racial justice initiatives and preserving advantages for white Americans, even perverting the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division to “investigate and prosecute all state and local governments, institutions of higher education, corporations, and any other private employers” with diversity, equity, and inclusion policies.
- Gutting public education, wiping out Head Start and other support for low-income students, and withdrawing federal oversight of public schools.
- Slashing health care insurance, putting 18 million Americans at risk of losing coverage entirely, killing the drug price provisions of the Inflation Reduction Act and Affordable Care Act’s protections for pre-existing conditions.
- Shutting down access to safe abortions, contraception, and other reproductive health care, putting women’s lives at risk.
- Deleting “sexual orientation and gender identity” from all federal rules, reinstating a transgender military ban, and limiting LGBTQ workplace discrimination protections.
Trump said that he has never read Project 2025 and didn’t know what it was. At that time, Trump was a candidate for President. However, once gaining the Oval Office again, Trump has swiftly enacted executive orders that closely follow the plans outlined in Project 2025.
