Washington, D.C. – Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu is scheduled to address Congress today to discuss the ongoing war in Gaza.
Ahead of the Address, protestors and supporters alike are gathered across the nation’s Capital exercising their right to voice their opinions. One person chanted, “We oppose Israel because we are Jews.” Another person chanted, “Free Free Palestine.”
The atmosphere in D.C. is reminiscent of the moments leading up to the January 6th, 2021 riots that rocked the Capitol Building. While many Republican lawmakers plan to attend Netanyahu’s address of Congress, several Democrats said they will not be attend. CNN reports that at least 80 House Democrats and six Democratic senators will skip today’s speech.
Senator Elizabeth Warren said she will not attend Netanyahu’s speech because she believes that Netanyahu has destabilized the region and “created a human disaster,” the Senator told The Hill.
Other politicians put their distaste for Netanyahu more bluntly, Representative Ocasio-Cortez called Netanyahu, “a war criminal.”
