For more than a week, what has become known as the Park Fire has burned more than 383,619 acres according to CALFIRE and ranks among the fifth largest fire since California started recording fires.
Ronnie Dean Stout, the man accused of arson and starting the fire was arraigned in a San Francisco court on Monday. Stout is being charged with reckless arson with several enhancements, according to CBS News. Stout has several prior felony convictions and his blood alcohol content, at the time of his arrest for the Park Fire, was above the legal limit.
If found guilty, Stout could serve a minimum of four years, but a longer sentence is likely.
Residents in Northern California have been under orders to evacuate for days. Particularly hard hit are the counites of Butte, Plumas, Shasta and Tehama, according to SFGATE.com.
While the wild-fire is 14% contained in some areas, the weather is supposed to once again rise to triple digits. If that happens, we could see the fire spread.
