SANTA MONICA – As the war between Israel and Gaza continues, the United States plans to deploy more defensive military capabilities to the region, said Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh.
Last week, two assassinations rocked the Middle East threatening to destabilize the region and throw the world into a global war.
In Iran, Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was assassinated while attending the swearing-in of Iran’s new president. While Prime Minister Bejamin Netanyahu of Israel has not claimed responsibility for the killing, however, Hamas and Iran have both blamed Israel for the attack.
In Lebanon, militant leader of Hezbollah, Fu’ad Shukr, was killed in an airstrike by the Israeli Air Force last week. The Israel Defense Forces put out a statement confirming they, “eliminated the Hezbollah terrorist organization’s most senior military commander.”
The IDF said that Shukr directed Hezbollah’s attacks on the state of Israel since October 8th.
In a call with Prime Minister Netanyahu last week, U.S. President Biden reconfirmed U.S. commitment to protect and aid Israel against security threats from Iran, including its proxy terrorist groups Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis.
