ROME / SANTA MONICA – Earlier today, U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin told reporters that there is evidence that North Korea may have sent 3,000 soldiers to aid Russia in their war against Ukraine.
The North Korean government previously promised to send 10,000 troops to Russia. This information was reported South Korean officials, who added, “the deployment is expected to be completed by December.”
The ongoing invasion of Ukraine by Russia has taken its toll on the Russian military. The U.S. military estimates that approximately 600,000 Russian soldiers have been either wounded or killed since the 2022 invasion.
Lloyd said the addition of North Korean troops could point to a problem in Russia’s recruitment. “This is an indication that he (Russian President Vladimir Putin) may be even in more trouble than most people realize.”
